Terms of Service

The service

Consented (consented.co.nz) is an independent information service that reads publicly available Christchurch City Council resource consent data and presents it as personalised digests and a searchable dashboard. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Christchurch City Council.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under New Zealand law.
• You're responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for all activity under your account.
• Provide accurate information, and update it if it changes.

Permitted use

You may use Consented to monitor consent activity for your own business, professional, or personal purposes. You agree not to:

• Scrape, bulk-export, or resell the data other than as the service is designed to provide it.
• Use the service to harass, defame, or infringe the rights of any applicant, agent, property owner, or other party named in the data.
• Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or overload the service, or use it in breach of any law.
• Share your account with others, or allow automated systems to impersonate a human user.

Subscriptions and payment

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. You authorise Consented (via Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on the recurring basis shown when you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them through the billing portal. Prices are in NZD. Consented is not currently GST-registered so no GST is added to the displayed price.

Refunds and your rights. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; no pro-rata refund is given for the unused part of the period. We will refund duplicate or billing-error charges as soon as you let us know. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Deleting your account (from Settings) also cancels the subscription and removes your personal data from our systems.

Data accuracy and limitation of liability

Consented data is sourced from CCC and AI-assisted summaries are generated algorithmically. Errors, omissions, and delays are possible. The service is provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Consented will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where it applies.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, appear fraudulent, or pose a risk to the service. We'll give reasonable notice where we can, unless the breach is serious.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email, and continued use of the service after that date means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute will be dealt with in the New Zealand courts.
